Illinois Accepts NABCEP Board Certifications

In order to install renewable energy on a building other than your own, Illinois requires certification. One of the pathways to earn Illinois’ Distributed Generation Installer Certification is to be NABCEP Board Certified. The steps to certification are detailed below.

1. Visit the Illinois Commerce Commission’s page for Distributed Generation Installer Certification.
2. Read the Illinois Distributed Generation Law and links found in step 1.
3. Provide proof of your NABCEP Board Certification.
4. Apply for certification using the form, cover letter, and instructions from step 1’s link.
