In October 2017, NABCEP began offering the Photovoltaic (PV) Associate exam outside of North America. As in North America, the purpose of taking the NABCEP PV Associate exam is to demonstrate an individual’s knowledge of PV systems and earn a credential from the most well-respected renewable energy certification company in the U.S. and Canada.

The major function of the NABCEP PV Associate Program is identifying individuals who have obtained the knowledge of the basic principles relating to the application, installation, operation, and economics of PV systems.  The NABCEP PV Associate Program is intended for anyone who is currently working in, or seeking employment in the PV industry.

In 2018, NABCEP opened NABCEP MENA (Middle East North Africa) to further its expansion outside of the United States. NABCEP MENA will be responsible for carrying out NABCEP’s mission in the region while advancing uniform standards of practice in the renewable energy industry.

NABCEP partnered with Excellent for Energy Consultancy (EEConsult), a US-based company located in Austin, TX to develop NABCEP MENA. EEConsult provides consultation for energy services, power system studies, industrial solutions, and advanced training. NABCEP MENA and EEConsult developed partnerships with the Al Hussein Technical University(HTU) to deliver PV training that leads to NABCEP Board Certification.
