Please join us for this special event to honor and celebrate the life and work of Les Nelson – longtime NABCEP and CALSSA board member, solar industry leader and dear friend.
Les was involved with NABCEP from nearly the start of the organization and served as Treasurer for the majority of his time on the Board, which spanned almost 20 years. Les came to NABCEP with extensive experience in the solar heating industry and had been involved in solar thermal manufacturing, regulatory and policy development, and solar energy advocacy at the state and federal levels since 1972. His passion for solar heating and level-headed approach to doing business showed through in many ways over the years, most recently in an article posted on May 18th in which he discussed the status of the radiant and hydronics industry and advocated for patience during the COVID-19 pandemic.
On a personal level, I worked with Les for the past three and a half years after accepting the position at NABCEP, and I found him to be a kindhearted and genuine person. He was incredibly knowledgeable about the industry, and he cared deeply about doing things the right way. I always appreciated his financial acumen as Board Treasurer, and over the years, he became a trusted advisor on all matters. NABCEP’s Board, staff, and I will all miss him dearly.
Les’ family has asked people to donate to NABCEP in his name as a way to recognize his dedication to the organization and the renewable energy industry.
Please be aware that donations to NABCEP are NOT deductible as charitable contributions.
