Meridian Solar, Austin, Texas, has been in business for 10 years.  Andrew McCalla, founder and CEO, was in the inaugural group of NABCEP certificants in 2003, and today, six of Texas’s 23 NABCEP-certified installers work for Meridian Solar.  Three former Meridian NABCEP-certified installers have since moved on to other impressive careers.  Recently, Meridian opened an office in San Antonio, a community without, at least for the moment, NABCEP-certified installers.

“San Antonio has been a good business opportunity for years,” said McCalla.  “Even before City Public Service (CPS)’s solar rebate, San Antonio has been a progressive community for renewable energy.  I think the current landscape will encourage San Antonio rate payers to embrace solar even more.”

Meridian has serviced San Antonio for a while, offering sales, design and installation services.  “But this is neither sustainable as a business practice for us, nor for the San Antonio community.  Though there aren’t any NABCEP-certified installers in San Antonio right now, with 56 people sitting for the most recent NABCEP exam earlier this month, that may change soon.”
