NABCEP offers 11 different credentials in renewable energy technologies.

Each credential includes a training requirement.

NABCEP ASSOCIATE PROGRAM:  PV Associate, Solar Heating Associate and Small Wind Associate credentials are available to candidates who qualify to take a NABCEP Associate Exam through either completing a training course with a NABCEP Registered Associate Provider, or via the Work Experience Pathway explained in the Associate HandbookClick here to go to the Associate Program Page.

NABCEP PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATIONS   PV Installation Professional, PV Design Specialist, PV Installer Specialist, PV Commissioning & Maintenance Specialist, PV Technical Sales, PV System Inspector, Solar Heating System Inspector, and Solar Heating Installer Certifications require both initial exam training and recertification training hours.

All certifications have specific training requirements detailed in the Certification Handbook.

ACCREDITED COURSES – Accredited courses can be used to satisfy training required for NABCEP Exams and/or Recertification. NABCEP registers training providers who are accredited by a third-party accrediting organization such as a federal agency; for the full list of NABCEP-recognized accrediting bodies, see the Training Section in the Certification Handbook.

NON-ACCREDITED COURSES – Non-Accredited courses can be used for Recertification and Renewal purposes; non-accredited approved courses may also satisfy 18 of the 58 hours required to qualify for NABCEP’s PVIP Exam. Non-accredited courses have not been accredited by a NABCEP-recognized accrediting body. For a full list of recognized accrediting bodies, see the Training Section in the Certification Handbook.

RECERTIFICATION & RENEWAL COURSES includes accredited and non-accredited registered classes applicable to NABCEP recertification and credential renewal.

CANDIDATE RESPONSIBILITY: If you plan on attending a training, don’t forget to obtain a signed course completion document from the Training Provider, to upload to your myNABCEP account.

 

HOW TO REGISTER A COURSE

If you would like to become a NABCEP Registered Training Provider, please read the following REGISTERED TRAINING PROVIDER GUIDELINES & APPLICATION. Providers are required to produce a course completion document verifying credit approval. Please use a form such as this 2018 Course Completion Document.
