The NABCEP PV Technical Committee has a number of key responsibilities in the operation of the Solar PV Installer Certification. The first is its responsibility for maintaining and updating the Solar PV Installer Job Task Analysis to keep it current with technological and regulatory changes within the PV industry. Therefore, it is NABCEP policy that the Solar PV Installer Job Task Analysis be reviewed by the PV Technical Committee to keep current with changes to the National Electric Code which is revised every three years.
Secondly, a subset of the PV Technical Committee is charged with reviewing and updating the actual PV Installer Examination to keep it aligned with the Solar PV Installer Job Task Analysis. Another subset of the PV Technical Committee is responsible for reviewing and updating the PV Study Guide (revised April, 2009) to keep it aligned with the Solar PV Installer PV Job Task Analysis.
Please note that the NABCEP Solar PV Installer JTA was revised on July 21st, 2010. The NABCEP PV Study Guide does not reflect those changes and is still based on the older JTA. While it remains a useful study resource it, as always, is NOT the definitive guide to the exam. When preparing for the exam use the Study Guide, other resources noted, your own references, trade publications and other resources that cover the knowledge and tasks outlined in the JTA.
